Massage therapists who work with their hands strive to use them as an extension of their heart. I’m still riding the wave of energy that Lisa’s massage encouraged to flow through my body.

General FAQs

Q: Where are you located?

A: Bozeman Ashiatsu & Asana is located at 438 E. Mendenhall Suite 200 in Bozeman, Montana. We share a studio space with Renew, so you may also look for their name on the door!

A: When you arrive for your first massage appointment, we'll have you complete a short health intake form. This information helps us tailor your appointment to specific issues, health goals, and preferences!

Ashiatsu FAQs

Q: What is Ashiatsu?

A: Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage technique that uses deep strokes from the massage therapists' feet. It originated thousands of years ago and was popular across Asia, India, Africa, and the Pacific Rim before catching on in the U.S. It's now one of the fastest-growing western massage modalities!

Q: How does Ashiatsu work?

A: During your appointment, you'll relax on a massage table as you would during a traditional massage. The therapist stands on the table and holds onto overhead bars for balance and support while using her feet (and gravity!) to massage deep tissue.

Q: What will an Ashiatsu massage feel like?

A: The beauty of Ashiatsu is that you get a deep, consistent massage without discomfort, aches, or bruising. It's like getting the perfect Swedish massage with no pain. The result? Total relaxation.

Q: Is Ashiatsu for you?

A: Clients of all ages, body types, and massage experience can benefit from Ashiatsu. If you've suffered from back and hip pain or are an athlete, you'll especially love this method. However, Ashiatsu may not be recommended during pregnancy or within 6 weeks of surgery. Please discuss potential health concerns with us so we can help you decide if Ashiatsu is right for you.

You may also review this page for information on specific conditions NOT recommended for Ashiatsu.

Q: Is Ashiatsu safe?

A: Extensive training ensures our Ashiatsu massages are safe, effective and painless. Pressure is carefully monitored throughout your appointment and can be easily adjusted if you want more or less pressure. Your safety, relaxation, and long-term health are the foundation of every session!

Yoga FAQs

Q: When and where are yoga classes held?

A: Yoga is offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30 pm at 438 E. Mendenhall Suite 200 in Bozeman, MT (inside the Renew studio). Click here for directions.

Q: Do I need prior yoga experience to attend your classes?

A: Nope! We tailor every class to the skill level and goals of whomever meets us on the mats. Whether you're a "yoga rookie" or a certified teacher in your own right, you'll be welcomed with open arms.

Q: What style of yoga do you teach?

A: We teach Vinyasa ("Flow") yoga, arguably the most popular forms of yoga in the world. Vinyasa is a flowing, dynamic sequence of poses that focuses on synchronizing the breath with a continuous flow of postures. The fluid movements increase flexibility, strength, and stamina, as well as calm the mind and improve your overall health.

Q: I'm new to yoga. What should I wear?

A: Whatever you're comfortable in! Students typically like semi-fitted shirts (so they stay in place during various poses), sports bras for women, and comfortable athletic pants, tights, or shorts. To protect our mats, you'll be asked to remove your shoes for class.

Q: What is Big Sky Yoga Retreats, and where can I learn more?
